Birth – A Play by Karen Brody

Laurie performed last weekend in play Birth by Karen Brody and directed by Aimée Miles. It was a performance for the Birth Fest 2008 in San Francisco. Birth Fest is an event created to support midwifery and natural birth.

Laurie got an additional applause after showing her belly !

Pinay Stories

Pinay Stories

My wife is performing at SomArts Cultural Center on Saturday and Sunday, May 12. and 13.

Production is called Pinay Stories and is directed by Alleluia Panis. It’s a futuristic theatrical and poetic exploration by three Pilipina American women.

450 Sutter

450 Sutter St.

Built in 1929, it’s the design of Timothy Pflueger. He and his firm made several other Mexican-inspired Art Deco buildings in San Francisco. He designed 8 theater buildings including the Castro Theatre, Paramount Theatre in Oakland, New Mission, El Rey and Alhambra theatres. The Stock Exchange Tower and the interior of City Club and City College campus buildings.

In 1940 he brought Diego Rivera, right after his divorce from Frida Kahlo, to do City College mural. Frida went to San Francisco where she reconciled with Diego.
